With the community’s support, you can make the most of your child’s account with milestone deposits. These deposits can be made to their accounts when you attend workshops, take your child to their doctor’s visits, get your child their shots and bring them to the dentist once a year.
With the help of our community partners, your child could have $500 by the time they turn 5. We will put in up to $50 to start with.

Meet your first milestone.
It’s easy. Just log in to your Parent Portal. We’ll deposit $25 into your child’s account.

Make sure your child has their check-ups and shots.
If your child has Medi-Cal, up to $50 will be added to their account. To get this added money, here’s what to do; fill out a consent form, make sure your child gets all their shots and go to 6 wellness checks at your doctor’s office.

Meet your child’s dentist milestones.
Take your child to their first tooth or first birthday dentist visit with Dientes or Salud Para La Gente and we’ll add $50 to your child’s account. Dientes Community Dental will also add money to your child’s account, when you take them to their yearly check-up.

Go to Parent Workshops.
When you go to Parent Workshops, more money will be added to your child’s account. Go to one Triple P class, one Parent Portal workshop and one Salud Financiera Workshop. Each class you attend will earn more money for your child’s future schooling. What you’ll learn can help your family.

What is CalKIDS?
Calkids is a state-funded program. It gives a college savings account to all babies born in California and low-income students enrolled in a public school. To sign your child up with CalKids, go to CalKids.org. Your baby can have accounts with Semillitas, CalKids, and a 529 account you set up yourself! .
